In 2012, the Maryland General Assembly ratified the Land Use Article which revised Maryland’s existing land use statutes codified in Articles 66B and 28 of the Maryland Annotated Code. The primary purpose of the 2012 Land Use Article — which governs the establishment and implementation of land use mechanisms by local governments in their jurisdictions — was to modernize and clarify the existing Annotated Code’s land use statutes while deleting obsolete provisions. Insight into the background on this significant code revision has been provided in a Summary Report issued by Maryland’s Department of Legislative Services.
Now, HB 1257 seeks to correct and clarify specified provisions of the 2012 Land Use Article relating to zoning, planning, subdivision, and other land use laws of the State.
A Hearing on HB 1257 has been scheduled for February 28, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
